i lived in Mackenzie with my family between 1965 and 1970 with my parents and my 3 brothers and my sister. I remember the warm wether, the malacas, the pineapples, the heat. I was 6 years old at the time. My fathers name (deceasesd en 1983) was robe

back then. I also remember the snakes and all the big butterfiles and insects.
Looking back , these were nothing but happy days, especially as a child. Do you remember the taste of guinips ... or the taste of fresh coconut juice.
My father used to work at the plant, but I still do not know WHAT he actually did.

I visited Georgetown several years ago for three weeks and had a wonderful time. I taught Vacation Church School in a tiny church in the Village of Good Intent, on the West Bank of the Demerara River on the edge of the sugar cane estate. I went to Kaiteur
swam in another waterfall on the brazil border, shopped in the marketplace, went to the zoo, worshipped in a Hindu temple, painted a church and loved the Guyanese people and the food. I especially remember the hottest sauce for on rice, eating a rolled r
sspberry coconut cake and pilourie and channa. I love your recipes. Do you have them published in a book?
I stayed on Peter Rose Street in Queenstown in a hotel/training facility. My dear friends in Guyana included Brother George Richmond of the Queenstown Moravian Church.
