I've spent a lot of time trying to find information and pictures of giant otters- without much luck. I was really glad I found you... I'm trying to build a web-site to promote the conservation of the giant otter, (I wish I could do much much more,) and am also campaigning in other ways, hoping that more exposure will help with the effort. Dear Wayne, I am married to a Guyanese named, Ravendra, who is and came from Berbice, Guyana. We are now married under Muslim religion but not by U.S. law. But I've noticed that Guyanese are very strict people or at least the family I've met. Just wondering do y u know a guy named Hardatt or they call spider. My mother is from Linden, Guyana.When we were growing up, she talked and dreamed of Guyana all the time. From curry chicken to cook-up rice, our "Californian" up bringing still had a little Guyanise spice to it.I moved away from CA and am now living on a paradise island called Guam. Since this is the first time I am visiting your site, I find it very interesting. As a matter of fact, I never knew that Guyana was on the internet, until a little friend of mine, asked me to assist her in obtaining facts about Guyana for her school proj ct. I find one thing lacking, there is nothing about sports in Guyana, which is part of the package for her school project. When I went into the ALL NEWS, I only found news about foreign sports. I think somebody should take steps to correct that oversight/u dersight?!! I am presently living in Jamaica with my husband (a Jamaican) and I was pleasantly surprised to know that some one would take the trouble to update us absent Guyanese about things we are currently missing. Have you received the recipe for Butter Flaps? f not, I can try to do so, in Jamaica they call it Cocoa Bread. Incidentally, I copied the recipe for Mitai, which they call Coma in Jamaica. I have only been able to see/buy it at one plaza - up town. On Ash Wednesday, God willing, I will try my hand at making it. I look forward to hearing from you. Elveen.

Hi Wayne, I spent 1 year in New Amsterdam, Guyana, some 8 years ago, living with a local family, and setting up a children's home on behalf of my church in Scotland. I live daily with my memories of the country. It was the most life changing experience I ver had, and almost too unreal to believe it really happened. For five years, I was married to a wonderful Guyanese gentleman named "Rupert Taitt". I, myself, am an American. We were married in Georgetown in 1991. Rupert, who I nicknamed "Blackberry", finally came to the US in February of 1992. Mr. Taitt passed way in October of 1996 as a result of a short illness. The legacy this wonderful man left me was his own profound wisdom and the richness of Guyana which I have visited five times. Images of the land of many waters will forever be ingrained upon my mind. Our experiences in Guyana and stateside were so fulfi ling that I am currently in the process of completeling a novel based on those events.
